No offense Higgins, but with the one that didn't come up, I'm thinking you messed up the 00_header file somehow. :-) But I' glad you got it working.

Dude, had difficulties with 2 servers I upgraded to 10.04. Other 2 servers worked like a charm. Your solution didn't work for me but gave me an idea - I copied /etc/grub.d/00_header of one of the working servers to both of the servers hanging in the grub boot menu. After update-grub they started flawlessly.

Thank you!

Hi Tony,

Strangely, this is from a MintPPC9.1 install. I've been posting my results on the forum over there. :-)

I'll check that mouseemu got installed.

I'm finding some rather frustrating differences between UbuntuPPC 10.04 and Debian Squeeze (via MintPPC9.1) on this computer. The Ubuntu LiveCD boots fine and even enables KMS for the ATI Rage 128 video. With Squeeze, I got no video until I figured out that I needed to unload the DRI module. Similar issues with the key mappings...

It seems like a number of things are borked with the newer kernel, but then again, I'm a relative noob in the Linux world.

Thanks!

Hi makinmolecules,

Oddly enough, this hack has failed recently for me as well. I'm not sure why but I'm just been using mouseemu which is installed with mint9. I strongly suggest you used debian squeeze and mint9. Goto mintppc.org to get started.

In your text above for the keycodes, you have:

dev.mac_hid.mouse_button_emulation = 1
dev.mac_hid.mouse_button2_keycode = 87
dev.mac_hid.mouse_button3_keycode = 100

In the other docs online, the examples given are:

dev/mac_hid/mouse_button_emulation = 1
dev/mac_hid/mouse_button2_keycode = 87
dev/mac_hid/mouse_button3_keycode = 100

Do both work? I can't tell because neither appear to work on my old clamshell iBook G3...

I am trying VERY hard to get a Mahoodle (moodle & mahara) server up and running for our 8th graders to create ePortfolios. I have both moodle & mahara running fine on my old Dell Poweredge server but it is inaccessible from other computers.

You can get to the login screen via typing in the server IP address directly (however ALL graphics are stripped away) but it is impossible to get past the login screen. You get a "Server not found" error message.

I am lost and our Tech dept. isn't that proficient in Ubuntu/Linux. Any ideas or suggestions?

Alex,
Yes, an AD user would log in with their AD account user name and password. If you follow my instructions, a student would log into the classroom computer with their student active directory credentials. And then, they would goto http://yourmoodleURL.com and then log into moodle with the same active directory credentials. If your moodle server is internet facing, then the student could also log into http:/yourmoodleURL.com from their home computer using the AD credentials.
